Rules & Regulations
Last updated: August 17, 2026
Chapter 1 — Introduction & Legal Disclaimer
Saudi Arabia Virtual is a virtual airline operating on the IVAO network, simulating Saudi Arabian carrier operations (Saudia, Flynas, Flyadeal, Riyadh Air). These Rules & Regulations ("R&R") govern all members flying for the VA. By joining Saudi Arabia Virtual and submitting flights under the relevant carrier's callsign, you agree to abide by this document.
Chapter 2 — Membership
2.1. Membership is open to active IVAO members who hold a valid IVAO VID. Pilots whose IVAO account is not in active status will not be accepted.
2.2. Registration process: to join, a pilot is redirected to IVAO Single Sign-On (SSO) to log in with their IVAO account. Upon successful authentication, the pilot is redirected back to the Saudi Arabia Virtual pilot center, where they enter their preferred contact email address to complete registration.
2.3. Membership is free of charge.
2.4. The VA reserves the right to refuse or revoke membership for violations of this R&R or IVAO's Code of Conduct.
2.5. Pilots who flew with the previous legacy Saudia or Flynas virtual airlines will have their past hours automatically restored to their new account based on their IVAO VID. Pilots do not start from zero if they have legacy hours.
Chapter 3 — Rank Progression
3.1. Pilot ranks are awarded based on accumulated flight hours logged and validated through the VA's PIREP system.
| Rank | Minimum Flight Hours |
|---|---|
| Cadet | 0 |
| Second Officer | 10 |
| First Officer – Narrowbody | 35 |
| First Officer – Widebody | 300 |
| Captain – Narrowbody | 600 |
| Captain – Widebody | 1,200 |
| Senior Captain | 2,500 |
| Check Captain | 5,000 |
3.2. Only PIREPs validated under the rules in Chapter 4 count toward rank progression.
3.3. Rank determines eligibility for certain aircraft type ratings, routes/regions, and fleet access, in line with the VA's Type Rating and Region Package systems.
Chapter 4 — Flight & PIREP Rules
4.1. All flights must be flown on the IVAO network under the pilot's own IVAO VID.
4.4. Connection status is verified against the IVAO Whazzup API at the time of PIREP submission/validation. Flights falling below the 90% connection threshold will be rejected or flagged for review.
4.5. PIREPs must be submitted using the VA's approved ACARS client / tracker.
4.6. Pilots must completely shut down the aircraft engines at the arrival gate before clicking "End Flight" and filing the PIREP in the ACARS client. Filing before full engine shutdown may result in incorrect block time recording and PIREP rejection.
4.7. Flight Rejection Criteria: Flights will be automatically rejected (yielding no pay and no hours) if they meet any of the following thresholds:
- Flight score falls below 50 points.
- Landing rate is worse (harder) than -1,000 fpm.
- Landing G-force exceeds 2.3 G.
- Total simulator pause time exceeds 20 minutes.
- Wrong aircraft type: The aircraft ICAO used in the simulator does not match the filed flight plan (Note: A320/A320neo and A321/A321neo are treated as the same type).
4.8. Virtual Economy & Scoring: Every flight starts with a perfect score of 100 points. ACARS violations deduct points, directly reducing the flight's monetary payout. Severe operational mistakes (e.g., landing below -600 fpm, tail strike, engine strike) will issue an automatic fine to the pilot's virtual wallet.
4.9. Economy Requirements (The Four Keys): To operate any route, pilots must possess the required Pilot Rank, a valid Type Rating for the aircraft family, an active Operator License for the specific airline, and the appropriate Flight Package for the destination region. Operator Licenses must be renewed every 6 months. If a pilot's wallet balance is insufficient, the license can still be renewed, resulting in a negative balance that must be recovered through flying.
4.10. Falsifying flight data, editing ACARS logs, or submitting PIREPs for flights not actually flown on the IVAO network is strictly prohibited and will result in disciplinary action (see Chapter 6).
4.11. Only aircraft and routes available under the pilot's current fleet access, type ratings, and region packages may be flown for credit.
Chapter 5 — Staff & Roles
5.1. Saudi Arabia Virtual is managed by a staff team responsible for operations, technical systems, and pilot support.
5.2. Staff contact details are published on the website using role-based email addresses (e.g. operations@sa-virtual.net), not personal addresses.
5.3. Staff decisions regarding membership, discipline, and rank adjustments are final, subject to appeal via support@sa-virtual.net.
Chapter 6 — Code of Conduct
6.1. Respect. Members must treat fellow pilots, staff, and IVAO controllers with respect. Harassment, discrimination, or abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
6.2. Fair play. Cheating, exploiting bugs, or falsifying flight/PIREP data to gain rank, hours, or rewards is prohibited.
6.3. IVAO Code of Conduct. All members must also comply with IVAO's own Code of Conduct and network rules at all times while connected.
6.4. Communication. Members must use appropriate language on VA channels (website, forums, Discord) and IVAO frequencies.
6.5. Disciplinary actions for violations may include: warning, temporary suspension, rank demotion, PIREP invalidation, or permanent removal from the VA, at staff discretion, proportional to the severity of the violation.
6.6. Members may appeal disciplinary decisions by contacting support@sa-virtual.net within 30 days of the decision.
Chapter 7 — Data Protection & Privacy
7.1 Purpose
Saudi Arabia Virtual is committed to protecting the personal data of its members in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and IVAO's certification requirements. This chapter sets out exactly what data is collected, why, and what rights every member has over their own data.
7.2 Data We Collect
In operating the VA (website, pilot center, ACARS tracking, and community channels), Saudi Arabia Virtual collects the following personal data from its members:
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| First name | Account identification, pilot roster |
| Last name | Account identification, staff records |
| Email address | Preferred contact email provided at registration; login, notifications |
| IVAO VID | Linking pilot profile to IVAO network, verifying active status |
| IVAO online/connection status during flights | Retrieved via the IVAO Whazzup API; used to calculate the % of the flight the pilot was connected, to validate PIREPs |
| IP address | Security, fraud prevention |
| Flight data (PIREPs, routes, hours, ACARS logs) | Rank progression, fleet/route tracking |
| Session cookies & login tokens | Keeping you logged in, site functionality |
This list is exhaustive. It will be updated whenever the VA begins collecting any additional category of data, and the current version is always published on the VA's Privacy Policy page.
7.3 Right to Access and Deletion
Every pilot, regardless of country of residence or nationality, has the right to:
- Access a full copy of the personal data Saudi Arabia Virtual holds about them;
- Correct any inaccurate or outdated data;
- Delete their personal data and close their VA account at any time ("right to be forgotten");
- Restrict or object to specific uses of their data;
- Receive a copy of their data in a portable format upon request.
Requests can be made at any time by contacting support@sa-virtual.net. Saudi Arabia Virtual will process such requests within 30 days. Where an account is deleted, personal identifiers are removed from active systems, while anonymized flight statistics may be retained for VA record-keeping and IVAO reporting purposes.
7.4 Public Display of Member Data
Allowed for public display: IVAO VID, VA callsign, first name, rank, and staff role-based company emails (e.g. operations@sa-virtual.net).
These restrictions apply only to public, non-authenticated access to the website. Once a member logs into the pilot center, full profile details relevant to VA operations (crew pairing, staff administration, event management) may be visible to other logged-in members and staff as needed.
7.5 Data Sharing
Saudi Arabia Virtual shares IVAO VID and flight connection data with the IVAO network solely for certification and activity-verification purposes. Member data is never sold, rented, or traded to third parties. Third-party services used to operate the VA (hosting, email delivery, Discord) may process data on the VA's behalf under their own privacy terms.
7.6 Contact
Questions or requests regarding this chapter or personal data should be directed to the VA's Data Protection contact: support@sa-virtual.net
This chapter should be read together with the VA's full Privacy Policy.
